Week 6: Create a Self-Love Anchor
It can be challenging to develop a new habit, like loving yourself more. Many people struggle to “remember” to engage in a new habit every day. Last week I suggested that you schedule it on your calendar. That’s one way to help make it happen. Another way is to create a “Self-Love Anchor.” An anchor, as you know, helps to keep something in place. More specifically we know it to keep a boat in place. For our purpose today, an anchor is to keep your awareness of self-love in place. It serves as a physical reminder for you to tune in to your awareness of self-love.
An anchor can be anything tangible. Something you can see or touch to remind you of your desire, which in this case is to extend love to yourself. Some people use a piece of jewelry, like a bracelet or necklace. Others use a picture or another object. The point is to choose an anchor that you can take with you wherever you go. Each time you touch it or notice it throughout your day, it will serve as a reminder to check in with yourself. When you do, ask yourself, “How am I loving myself today?” Every time you check in, you create a greater and greater amount of awareness around your decision to show love to yourself. And when that happens, your self-love grows and expands to other areas of your life.
I have multiple anchors which I will share with you later this week. Please tell me what anchor you have chosen. What is the story about your anchor? How did you decide this is what your anchor would be? I look forward to hearing from you.
With Love and Gratitude,
Charlotte
