Week 7: Treat yourself the way you want to be treated!
Everyone wants to be treated with love, kindness, and respect but somehow, we tend to forget to treat ourselves this way. This week, think of one thing you often do to yourself that is not loving, kind or respectful. Resolve to banish this habit. Make a date with yourself and have a little “Releasing Ritual” or a “Banishing Ball” in which you resolve to end the habit of __________.
Perhaps you’re going to resolve to stop criticizing every time you look at yourself naked in the mirror. Or maybe this is the time when you’re going to banish the habit of breaking agreements with yourself or allowing yourself to feel like you’re not enough. Whatever it is, just choose ONE thing.
I invite you to try some of these ideas for your banishing ritual or come up with your own.
· Light a candle or two or more
· Play some music that inspires you
· Write the habit you want to end on a piece of paper, then burn it, cut into tiny pieces with scissors, bury it or flush it down the toilet.
Once you have released the undesired habit, go to the mirror, gaze lovingly at yourself or on the part of your body you used to criticize and give LOVE to that place. Or, just sit in that feeling of space that is left when you let go of that which no longer serves you. That’s one of my favorite things about letting go. It leaves space that makes me feel lighter and more open. That’s what happens when you let go. Try it, see how it feels, and be sure to let me know how it goes.
And finally, do this as often as you can. Letting go of all the things that are holding you back is great way to treat yourself better and give yourself the love you need.
